Sanjena Ramesh

Sanjena has been learning Bharathanatyam since 2008 in Sridevi Nrithyalaya under Dr. Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan.

​

Sanjena Ramesh is an enthusiastic child who loves to learn and adapt our Indian heritage, art and culture. She has been learning Bharatanatyam, Vocal Music and Veena from a very young Age. With an intrinsic interest in the art forms, she exhibits an earnest thirst to learn our classical arts. Being innately talented and sincere, Sanjena has been proving her excellence in the field of performing arts.

Currently, Sanjena is an active Bharatanatyam performer, travelling all over India and abroad, performing solos and participating in the group presentations of her Teacher, Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan. She has accompanied her Guru in the orchestra, playing Veena for two dance performances.

 

She completed her Arangetram in July 2017, and was awarded the Title “Nrithya Vichithra” by her Sridevi Nrithyalaya.

  • Durga Lal Endowment award, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha (2015)  

  • Best Performer Award, Parthasarathy Swami Sabha (2015 & 2019)

  • Recipient of the Bharath Kalachar scholarship for Bharatanatyam (2012-14 & 2015-17)

  • First Prize in the 3rd Global Cultural Olympiad in Dubai

  • First Prize in the 4th Global Cultural Olympiad in Malaysia

  • Second Prize in the Sub Junior Category in Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival Dance competition (2015)

  • Conferred the Title “Ilanthalir 2018” in the Dance competition conducted by South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur.

  • Gold Medal in “Brahma Sadhana”  All India National level Dance competition, Mumbai in December (2018)

  • First Prize in the Tamil Nadu Zonal Kala Utsav Dance competitions 

  • Third Prize in the 60th All India Dance competition (2015) in Bharathanatyam Solo and Group Competition conducted by All India Artist Association and Nrithyathi Kalakshetram, Bhilai

  • Second Prize in the 60th All India Dance competition (2015) in Bharathanatyam Duet Competition conducted by All India Artist Association and Nrithyathi Kalakshetram, Bhilai

  • Second Prize in the All India Margam Dance competition in  April (2018) conducted byNrithyathi Kalakshetram, Bhilai

  • First Prize in the 59th All India Dance competition (2014) in Bharathanatyam Group and Duet Competition conducted by All India Artist Association and Nrithyathi Kalakshetram, Bhilai

  • Second Prize in Bharathanatyam Solo, in Papanasam Sivan Dance Competition conducted in Chennai (2015)

  • First Prize in the 58th All India Dance competition (2013) in Bharathanatyam Group competition conducted by All India Artist Association and Nrithyathi Kalakshetram, Bhilai.

  • Second Prize in the 45th All India Dance competition conducted by Navya Nataka Samiti, Hyderabad in January (2013)

  • Second Prize in the National Sanskrit folk Song competition conducted by Bharath Vikas Parishad held in August (2013)

  • Third prize in the 9th National Harmony 2013 in Bharathanatyam Solo competition conducted by Akhil Bharatiya Sanskritik Sangh , Pune in June (2013)

As an aspiring and promising performer and learner of the art form, Sanjena strives to imbibe the nuances and aesthetics of the art and internalise the values taught to her by her Gurus.
