Mridula Sivakumar

Learning Bharatanatyam from tender age of three under Dr. Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan at Sridevi Nrithyalaya, Chennai, Mridula Sivakumar is a passionate and sincere learner with a natural flair for the arts. Mridula completed her Arangetram along with her sister, Mrinalini Sivakumar, in 2012 and has been fortunate to have performed on several platforms since childhood.

She has won prizes in several competitions and has been an active part of Sridevi Nrithyalaya’s productions such as Bala Ramayanam, Shadaksharam, Janani Jagath Karani, Sri Krishna Vaibhavam, Sivamayam, Ravaneswaran, Brahmasmi, Leela Taranga Margam, Param, Srinivasa Kalyanam. She is a graded artiste of Doordarshan and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s in Commerce from Madras University.

  • Recipient of Ranjani Rajan Memorial award for the best dance artist in the year 2005-06

  • Winner in the Kids Kiladi show conducted by Chutti TV in 2005

  • Winner in the Thaka Dhimi Tha show in Jaya TV in the year 2005 and in 2007

  • First prize in dance conducted by Jawahar Siruvar Mandram in the year 2007

  • Winner in Konjum Salangai show in Doordarshan (Podhigai TV) in the year 2008

  • First prize in the All India dance competition conducted by Gopinath Vysa, at Bangalore in 2008 and 2013

  • First prize in National level Dance competition conducted by Navya Nataka Academy at Hyderabad in 2008 and 2009 and second prize in the year 2010

  • First prize in junior category in the competition conducted by Papanasam Sivan Rasikar Sangam, 2010

  • First prize in dance competition conducted by Nehru Children`s Cultural Association in 2010

  • Second Prize in dance competition conducted by TAPAS cultural foundation

  • Consolation prize at all India Multi Lingual Drama Dance and Music conducted by Akhil Bharathiya Sanskrithik held at Pune in 2009

  • Second prize in NATARAJ NATIONAL DANCE FEST (National Competition of Bharatanatyam) conducted by Kalamandir College of fine arts Peravoor Kerala- 2012

  • Second prize in junior level for Papanasam Sivan composition conducted by Papanasam Sivan Rasikar Sangam-2012

  • Honoured as ASTHANA VIDWAN of SRI CHAKRA MAHA MEERU PEETAM Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh

  • Awarded the Charles H. Best award for dance- first prize in the Diabetes Fest 2011

She is learning Carnatic music from Smt. Chitrambari Krishnakumar and has sang in films, the popular song ‘Chu Chu Mari” in the film POO, Kalavani and Theneer Viduthi and also released devotional album. She has also sang a folk number in her guru`s production Ravaneswaran. She was given the opportunity to sing along with the living legend Padmashri Aruna Sairam in Aikya India 2010
